What are the photo and scan requirements for my documents?

Photo quality

  • The entire document must be visible — no cropped edges

  • All text must be clearly readable — no blur, glare, or shadows

  • Photos must be in colour — black-and-white images are not accepted

  • The document must be flat when photographed — no folding or bending

Accepted file formats

  • JPEG / JPG

  • PNG

  • PDF (for proof of address)

File size

  • Minimum: 250 KB

  • Maximum: 8 MB per file

Common reasons photos are rejected

  • Glare from a light source covering part of the document

  • Fingers partially covering the document

  • Image taken at an angle rather than straight-on

  • Document photographed on a patterned or busy background

  • Text is pixelated or too small to read

Tip: Take your photo in natural daylight without direct sunlight. Place the document on a plain, dark surface and hold your camera directly above it.
